Exploring the Axolotl

Did you ever want to own an Axolotl? We had two, and they are actually quite a lot of work. Weekly water changes, worries over the tank getting too warm in summer, always keeping the curtains closed so the light didn't shine into their tank and hurt their wee eyes. Then they went and decided to have babies which was a whole new adventure. 

What happened next?

Growing live brine shrimp to feed the baby axolotls was intense. It consisted of a complicated set up of drink bottles, heat lamps, salt water, eggs, and lots of time and patience. Eventually, with a trip to the snow imminent, and twice daily feeds becoming impossible, we decided it was time to rehome our beloved pets and work with something a little more low maintenance instead. 

How is life now?

While initially we missed our toothless friends, we soon grew to enjoy the light, sunny room where plants would thrive and it could be as warm as we liked. Instead of live pets, we have our 3d printed axolotls filling our space, and bringing joy to our day.
