At 3D Fantasy, we believe that bringing mythical creatures to life shouldn't cost the Earth or destroy the planet. While mass-produced plastic toys often end up in landfills, our workshop in Wellington, New Zealand, is dedicated to a cleaner, greener way of creating.

1. Better Materials: The Power of PLA

Unlike traditional plastic toys made from petroleum-based ABS, we exclusively use PLA (Polylactic Acid).

• What it is: A thermoplastic monomer derived from renewable, organic sources like corn starch or sugar cane.
• Why it matters: PLA is biodegradable and compostable under industrial conditions. It doesn't emit the toxic "plastic smell" or harmful fumes during production, making it safer for our workshop and your home.
• The Result: You get a high-quality, durable fantasy collectible that feels premium but has a significantly smaller carbon footprint.

2. 3D Printing vs. Mass Production

Most "big box" toys are made using injection molding, which requires massive factories and creates significant industrial runoff. Our process is different:

• Additive Manufacturing: We only use the exact amount of material needed for your specific dragon or fox. There is no "carving away" or wasting bulk material.
• Energy Efficient: Our printers are high-efficiency units that consume less power than a standard household microwave.
• No Toxic Paints: We prioritise using "Silk" and "Dual-Tone" filaments where the color is baked into the material itself, reducing the need for chemical-heavy aerosols or solvent-based paints. 

3. Low-Waste Craftsmanship in Wellington, NZ

Operating out of Wellington, we are committed to being as efficient as possible. We don't believe in "disposable" manufacturing, so we’ve developed a process to ensure every gram of filament counts:

• The "Zero-Purge" Method: Most 3D printers waste a significant amount of plastic when switching colours or starting new layers. Instead of letting that "purge" go to waste, we use it to create our unique super addictive spiral fidget toys. These pieces are just as durable and fun, but they allow us to use up leftover filament that would otherwise be discarded.
• Low-Waste Mindset: We meticulously calibrate our machines to minimise failed prints. By focusing on quality over quantity in our Tawa workshop, we significantly reduce material waste compared to high-volume industrial factories.
• Eco-Conscious Shipping: We prioritise recyclable packaging for our New Zealand and overseas customers. Our goal is to ensure that your new fantasy companion arrives safely without leaving a trail of unnecessary plastic waste behind.
